Beetle Control in Massachusetts & Rhode Island
ACE-Credentialed Identification. Same-Day Service. Long-Term Results.
Beetles are among the most species-diverse insects on the planet, and that diversity is exactly why identifying the right species before treatment matters. Carpet beetles, pantry beetles, and wood-boring beetles each require a different approach. At Assurance Pest Solutions, we have Associate Certified Entomologists (ACE) on staff who confirm what you’re dealing with before a single product is applied. That’s not standard practice in this industry. It’s how we work.
We’re a family-owned, locally operated company with over 40 years of experience in pest control, serving residential and commercial properties across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We’re licensed and insured, and we guarantee same-day or next-day service because beetle infestations don’t pause while you wait for a callback.

Our Beetle Control Process
Most DIY treatments target adult beetles on the surface and miss the larvae doing the actual damage. Larvae feed on wool, stored grains, wood, and upholstered furniture long before anyone notices a problem. Our process starts where the damage starts.
Inspection Inside & Out
Our technicians inspect both the interior and exterior of your property, identifying entry points that other companies overlook: gaps in weather stripping, damaged screens, cracks around utility penetrations, and spots where infested items were brought in. We show you exactly what we find and explain our findings before work begins.
Species-Confirmed Treatment
With ACE-credentialed entomologists guiding our approach, treatment plans are built around the specific beetle species and your property’s environment. Carpet beetle larvae require different protocols than pantry beetles or overwintering species. Getting the identification right supports treatment that is targeted rather than temporary.
Exclusion & Follow-Up
We seal the entry points other companies leave open as part of our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach: gaps, compromised weather stripping, and damaged screens. After treatment, we provide written reports, follow-up updates, and preventative guidance so you know what to watch for between visits. Our goal is long-term control, not repeated suppression.

Common Beetles Found in Massachusetts & Rhode Island
Effective beetle control in Massachusetts starts with knowing which beetle you’re facing. The three main categories found in New England homes and businesses each target different materials, enter through different routes, and require different treatment protocols.
Carpet Beetles
Four species cause significant problems in the region: the black carpet beetle, varied carpet beetle, common carpet beetle, and furniture carpet beetle. Adults are small and often go unnoticed near windows or light sources. The larvae are the damaging stage, feeding on wool, fur, feathers, leather, stored grains, pet hair, and dead insects. Carpet beetles more commonly enter on clothing, secondhand furniture, or items brought indoors than by migrating through the yard.
Signs include small irregular holes in natural-fiber fabrics, shed larval skins, and larvae in closets, under rugs, or along baseboards. Adult droppings can stain surfaces.
Pantry & Food Beetles
The saw-toothed grain beetle, flour beetles, and related species infest stored dry goods: flour, cereal, grains, spices, nuts, and dried fruit. They turn up in pantry crevices, cabinet corners, and inside food packaging. Infestations often trace back to a single compromised package that spreads through adjacent stored goods before anyone notices.
Overwintering Beetles
Species such as the Asian lady beetle congregate on sun-facing exterior walls in fall, then enter through cracks, gaps, and damaged window seals to shelter indoors. Large numbers can accumulate inside walls and window frames over winter. Entry points include gaps around pipes, attic vents, and any crack in the exterior where heat escapes.
Because each of these beetle categories requires a different treatment approach, accurate species identification isn’t a formality. It’s the starting point for a plan built around the conditions on your property.
